Survival seems difficult??

Approximately 7 months back i got into the real 'journalism' field when a Navi Mumbai based daily newspaper hired me. I had sum experience working with few other firms but for me, i was still a fresher and had a lot to learn.. In fact I joined the newspaper firm to learn and gain
knowledge about the happenings around.. Initially I had nothing to do but slowly i started gaining speed as soon as the editor began to give me responsible tasks and the best part was neither did he help me nor informed me about happening that are to be covered.. I had to do everything on my own from finding stories, getting information to making reports.. But he did give me some tips on translating a report from marathi, hindi to english..

After 3 days of relaxation and translating copies in the office, I was told to move out on the field and get some stories alone and when I asked him, "Sir where should I go?" He replied, "I dont know go wherever you get news." And I thought "Wow!! where will i get news? I think i was asking him that.. may be he dint understnd my question.. forget it.. Lets move out.." This is how I started with my job.. My dear friend helped me a lot as she already had some experience in that area and also made some sources.. [Yo!! Rucha..thnx.. :)] {Sources are the most important factor in a Journalist's life and they are the only one's who come to our rescue esp. when we do not have stories..:P}

Slowly I started finding stories and some of them were real good ones; but the editor never appreciates anybody, which used to hurt me a little cos my hard work was not getting a single token of appreciation [Dats ok.. i dnt knw y bt i strt xpctng 4m ppl.. bt m fine wid it nw..]

Then 1 day I was told to handle NMMC (Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation) { Like we have BMC in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai has NMMC) and I was given the responsibility to bring in stories from there.. It was difficult initially cos everything was extremely new for me.. I dint know what NMMC is.. But later I got used to the enviroment and the people around but dint know how to handle them.. And this is where I lack and i still behave like a college student.. [I behave like all are colleagues and they will help each other whenever required similar to how we helped each other during our college days but this does not work here.. Here people know how to pull you down but nobody will ever teach you to face the world, except the very few ones who have started dissappearing these days]

So far with what I have experienced, I feel a Journalist esp a woman who believes only in professional jouralism should never enter the press room of NMMC and if she does, she should know how to extract stories from other reporters without getting too much involved with them cos there one will come accross all kinds of beeps; they will act extremely nice before you but they will bitch about you as soon as you leave the press room... Not only the press room, recently i experienced that gils like me who have just completed graduation and speak to me so nicely that they know me since ages and call me almost everyday, are no less and are trying to pull me down.. Bloddy hell!! I hate such girls.. and thats why I dont prefer being friends with them easily.. My college friends always tell me that "Office mei colleagues hote hain friends nahi.. stay away from all of them; whether its a gal or guy".. I remeber but dont know tym pe hi bhool jaate..

I still have to learn a lot of things but thanks to the peeple around who taught me this lesson..
I was feeling low but I know I can handle things very well..

Neway I know this must b
e happening at every workplacebut we have to decide how to handle such people and such situations.. Its ok if you are also facing such a situation and you are thinking that you wont be a ble to survive, then do not worry you aren't the only one.. Survival can be difficult but not IMpossible.. so chill..Tension not you take.. :) Stay alert and do not pay attention to such things.. KEEP CALM N CARRY ON!!
